The beautiful Aurora borealis can be seen in the sky above Serbia today

In some parts of Serbia last night and tonight, citizens can see a red sky. It is the aurora borealis or the phenomenon called aurora borealis.

It is most visible from more rural areas, where there is no major artificial lighting. Auroras, divine games of light created by interaction The Sun and the Earth’s atmosphere have attracted the attention of people throughout history.

Today, they represent a scientifically explained phenomenon that never ceases to fascinate observers, and depending on the side of the hemisphere, they are called Aurora borealis (northern light) and Aurora australis (southern light), while the common denominator for both is Aurora polaris (polar light) or just Aurora.

How is it previously described for Danas by Dr. Darko Donevskidoctor of astrophysics and scientific communicator, an aurora is a specific manifestation of light in the night sky that is particularly visible at high latitudes, closer to the Earth’s poles. It can be described as one large luminous vortex of various shapes, from which multi-colored flaming lights often stand out.

The aurora borealis is associated with electrical and magnetic phenomena in the upper layers of the atmosphere. It arises as a result of the interaction of solar winds and the Earth’s magnetic field.

It is most often visible in the polar regions, and the greater the distance from the magnetic poles, the less often it appears. If observed from areas closer to the Earth’s poles, the aurora borealis is mostly yellow and green, and at lower latitudes the aurora borealis is more often red.
