Earlier this week it was reported that Jalmari Helander will make his first Hollywood film with the Lionsgate film company. However, the director is still unsure if Fairytale in New York is his next project.
Based on Deadline’s news, we reported on Wednesday that Jalmari Helander will next direct the movie Fairytale in New York, starring Oscar-winning Ke Huy Quan.

Fairytale in New York might be the next film Helander directs, but it’s not certain yet. Before the Hollywood film, Helander will release Sisu 2, which the director is currently working on editing.
It turns out From an interview with Helsingin Sanomatwhere Helander states the following:
“It’s true that I’ve been working on that film (Fairytale in New York) for a long time, but there are also other projects going on here. That I’m in a pretty bad crossfire about which one to choose.”
Jorma Tommila continues to star in Sisu 2, filmed in Estonia. The film does not have a release date yet, but since the production is already in the cutting stage, it is reasonable to assume that Sisu 2 will be released in 2025.
“It’s a big production and it’s going to be a damn great movie, and I’d really like to focus on making it,” Helander described the sequel to the internationally acclaimed Sisu (2022) to Helsingin Sanomat.
