This year Apple has launched on the market four iPhone 16 models with great features and technical specifications, including some improvements to its cameras. For example, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max now feature an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 48-megapixel sensor. And this makes photographic results better than ever.
In fact, they even have a new Camera Control specially designed to take photos and videos faster and that incorporates technical settings for zoom, depth effect, photo styles and much more.
If you received a new iPhone for Christmas, you might be interested in knowing some of the photography tricks which we are going to share below. Your Instagram photos are going to be amazing!
Tricks for the iPhone camera
Regardless of which iPhone model you bought (or were given as a gift), you can enjoy these camera tricks to make your photos and videos have the visual appearance you were looking for. Although, obviously, some of the features are not available on older generation iPhone models.
Just a macro
Macro mode is one of the most wonderful features of the latest iPhone models. We are totally hooked! Adjust the camera zoom to deliver high-resolution images just centimeters away from any object. And the results are fascinating.
The iPhone’s macro mode is automatically activated when you bring the camera closer to any element, displaying a flower symbol in the lower left corner. But if it doesn’t appear and you want to activate or deactivate it manually, go to Settings > Camera > Macro Control.
The vertical format
Lately, with the rise of social networks such as TikTok or Instagram, the format of photographs and videos in vertical orientation has become fashionable. But because of this, some of the photos you take with your iPhone in a vertical position do not always fit perfectly. And it’s horrible when there are empty spaces above or below the images. Or worse yet, that the image is overgrown on the sides and details are lost when publishing content.
To perfectly fit the vertical format of social networks you must use 16:9 aspect ratio. But the default aspect ratio of the iPhone camera is 4:3. To change it follow these steps:
- Open the application Camera.
- Access the mode Photo.
- Swipe up on “Photo.”
- press the button 4:3 and choose 16:9.
Keep your favorite settings
There is an option that will allow you to save some settings of your photographs such as the camera mode (you can have it open directly in Video instead of Photo), controls, photographic styles, depth control or macro mode, inter alia.
- Access to Settings.
- Enter Camera.
- Next go to Keep settings.
Group photos with the ultra wide angle lens
This Christmas you will surely have to take a lot of group photos with your brand new iPhone. To do so, the ultra-wide-angle lens will come in handy, allowing you to capture larger scenes in the field of view.
To use the ultra wide angle lens in your photos, press the button 0,5 located in the lower area of Photo mode.
