The best division in NFL history?!

Week 12 of the NFL season is over and as the calendar year turns into the Christmas season, the teams in the National Football League are entering the home stretch of the regular season. Of course, the battle in the league for the playoff places is raging. And one division clearly has the best statistics.

And statistics are loved in the NFL. From Travis Kelce’s yardage gain in the presence of Taylor Swift to the chicken wings consumed at the Super Bowl, the US experts don’t miss a statistic, including this weekend. sport.de shows you the most exciting statistics and records from Week 12.

The best division in NFL history?!

What the NFC North teams are showing this season is impressive. After eleven games played, the four teams (Lions, Packers, Vikings, Bears) have 31 wins and 13 defeats, which results in a win percentage of 70.5%. This is the highest after eleven games played since 1970 (tied with the NFC East in 2022).

The 2013 NFC West and the 2007 AFC South had the highest win percentage at the end of a season with 65.6% each.

Great Lions performance

With their record of 10-1, the Lions contribute to the above record and at the same time set their own record. For the first time in the franchise’s long history, the Lions managed to finish two seasons in a row with at least ten wins.

Long-running favorite

The Philadelphia Eagles defense can currently rely on Jalen Carter as well as ever. Carter played 114 snaps in a row between Weeks 10 and 12 before getting a break in the fourth quarter against the Rams. That is of course the highest value for a defensive tackle this season.

Unstoppable Barkley

And offensively? Saquon Barkley gives the Eagles a lot of joy. The running back is in top form and unstoppable by opponents. He accumulated over 500 scrimmage yards combined in the last two games. To date, only Walter Payton had achieved this feat in 1977.

Good or bad?

With 2,356 passing yards, Caleb Williams broke the Bears’ franchise record for passing yards by a rookie quarterback after Week 12. On the one hand, that speaks for the quality of Williams, but on the other hand, it doesn’t really speak for what the Bears have had as a rookie quarterback in their history. After all, Williams is the Bears’ 13th rookie QB (starter) since 1969

Not to be defeated

Will Levis had a tough start to the season. The Titans quarterback made some devastating interceptions and other mistakes. Levis has now arrived this season and is showing a lot of taker qualities. In the last three games, Levis had a passer rating of 109.3 despite recording 20 sacks.

No player has ever had a passer rating of more than 105 in three games when he was sacked at least 20 times.

Heavy impact

Speaking of a sack: Levis’ teammate T’Vondre Sweat also managed one against the Texans. And perhaps Texans QB CJ Stroud will have felt this one more than other sacks. Finally, at 366 pounds (166 kg), Sweat is the second heaviest player in NFL history (sacks have been officially recorded since 1982) to record a sack. Only Ted Washington, officially listed at 375 pounds (170 kg), was heavier.

The ups and downs of a kicker

The fact that Levis and Sweat caused a surprise with their Titans was also due to Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn, who missed a 28-yard field goal shortly before the end. Fairbairn was inconsolable afterwards, even though he had only just knocked on the door of the football Olympus shortly before. Finally, he scored his eleventh field goal from over 50 yards this season from 54 yards, making him the sole record holder for a single season.
