The best karatekas of Latvia will gather in Daugavpils for the National Championship

On September 28, the Daugavpils Olympic Centre will host the Latvian Karate Championship, which will bring together the best athletes of the country. This is one of the most significant events in the world of Latvian karate, where participants will compete for the prestigious title of Latvian Champion. The tournament is organised by the Sochin Karate Club Association in cooperation with the Latvian Karate Federation and the Daugavpils Youth and Sports Department. The competition is scheduled to start at 10:00, and high-level fights are expected, where the strongest karatekas of the country will be determined.

The championship will offer a wide range of disciplines, and athletes from all karate schools in Latvia will take part in it – from young participants to veterans. The tournament will be held in two main disciplines – KATA and KUMITE. In KATA, athletes will demonstrate the execution of techniques in the form of combinations of movements, and KUMITE will offer the audience exciting fights between opponents.

The competition will cover many age and weight categories, allowing each participant to perform at their level. For younger groups (10-11, 12-13 years old), special children’s categories are provided. Athletes over 16 years old will compete among adults, and veterans – in their age categories. The program also includes performances by para-karatekas with special needs, including a discipline for visually impaired participants.

The tournament organizers will ensure fair refereeing with the participation of certified judges of the Latvian Karate Federation, and also guarantee that the competition will comply with international standards. The fights will be held according to the Olympic system with full repechage fights, with the exception of categories with three participants, where the competition will be held according to the round robin system.

The winners of the championship in each category will be awarded cups, and the holders of second and third places will receive medals. In accordance with international traditions, two bronze awards are provided in each category. The champions of Latvia will be recognized as the best, which will be a confirmation of their mastery and dedication to the art of karate.

The Latvian Karate Championship is not only a sports competition, but also an important step in popularizing karate in the country. This event will inspire young athletes and provide an opportunity for a wider audience to become more familiar with this martial art.

The organizers invite everyone to support their athletes and witness top-level fights, where only the strongest will win.
