The big return of Iron Mike is around the corner. I’d rather die in the ring than in the hospital, says Tyson – Combat sports / MMA

At the respectable age of 58, the legendary Mike Tyson will enter the boxing ring in a competitive match on November 15 after 19 years.

His opponent will be a self-confident guy, for whom it will be one of the highlights of his life so far. “When I win, I’ll be immortal,” said the former heavyweight champion ahead of his fight with 29-year-old celebrity influencer Jake Paul. There are two weeks left until the fight, but the atmosphere between the two camps is starting to heat up.

There is no need to think long about what drives the veteran Tyson back to the ring at such an advanced age. It’s money. The boxing legend has achieved more than enough during his professional career. Now she’s going to try something she hasn’t tasted before. “Age is just a number. The only difference between me and the younger Mike is that now I go to massages more often,” said the American in an interview with Fight Hype.

The match will be closely watched also because its result will be part of the official boxing statistics. Tyson is thus threatened with his seventh professional loss.

“Just because he’s younger doesn’t mean he’s better. I still train with younger guys, younger than him and those who are better off,” believes Železný Mike, who recently even knocked down a sparring partner during one of the training sessions. Only the coach had to stop him from continuing with the words: that’s enough.

Those who follow social networks must have been surprised by the form and determination with which the ageless Tyson goes about it. His punches are flying at an incredible speed and it is clear that his domain is accuracy and power. “You made an impression on me. You look better than before the Lennox Lewis fight,” Gene Kilroy, Muhammad Ali’s former manager, reminded Tyson of the 2002 loss.

It was his fourth in his 35-year career. Previously, it was not enough for Buster Douglas (1990) and twice for Evander Holyfield (1996 and 1997). Tyson will have to face a confident opponent, for whom it will be 12 fights in the professional ring.

“He’s a good fighter, but he’s only had ten fights, which is considered amateur in our industry,” the New York native said of his opponent’s record of 10 wins and one loss. However, Paul entered the professional scene only in 2020.

Tyson’s address is being showered with praise from all sides. The popular Chuck Norris also commented on him recently. “You look sharp, Mike,” the 84-year-old action actor praised the boxer. November’s opponent Paul was not left behind either. “You really look incredible, kind of like the Hulk. But I’ll fuck you in a few days,” Paul wrote on the social network.

Despite all the flowery praise, the favorite is Tommy Paul, who is favored by a more acceptable age and better condition. “It will be an interesting and difficult match. But I believe I have what it takes to beat Mike. This is the hardest test of my life and it is an honor for me to enter the ring with him,” said Paul.

However, even Tyson did not hide his determination. “When I win, I will be immortal. If I’m going to fight badly, I don’t want to die in a hospital room, I want to die in the ring,” Tyson said in one of the trailers for the fight, which will be held at the AT&T Football Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
