The big update of Windows 11 has arrived – we show you what’s new –

Microsoft’s annual big update package tries to make the operating system better with many new features.

Recently, Microsoft made the 24H2 version of Windows 11 widely available, some of the new functions of which were launched at the beginning of the summer, but at that time only Copilot+ PCs equipped with artificial intelligence received the new features. The majority of users received the big update package months later, at the beginning of October.

One of the most striking novelties of the new system version is the renewed file manager, the home page of which now also displays shared documents. Transparency has also improved a lot, which the company achieved by labeling the context menu of files. What’s also new is that you can duplicate pages with a right click, create .7z and .TAR archives, and see the files of Android devices in the File Manager.

The Calendar and Mail applications are gone – from now on we will find them in the Outlook app as separate functions. The artificial intelligence of the system, Copilot, is also being transformed, which will now be available as an independent web application.

The introduction of checkpoint cumulative updates is an important innovation. Thanks to this function, Windows 11 updates will be smaller, so they will be installed faster. In practice, it looks like the updates will contain only the changes added since the previous update, thus saving users bandwidth and hard disk space.

A new Energy Saver mode has also arrived, which can be used on desktops and laptops as well. Windows 11 24H2 already supports WiFi 7 hardware, and individual networks can be shared with a QR code.

For the time being, Copilot + PCs will have the privilege of Paint’s own AI assistant called Cocreator, as well as Microsoft’s somewhat controversial Recall function, which, although we have to wait a little longer, we can completely remove it from our machine, contrary to previous rumors.

Of course, in addition to these, the new system version also includes a number of smaller innovations – about these from Microsoft on the Hungarian support page you can read in more detail, although the machine-translated interface leaves something to be desired. Windows 11 24H2 is gradually rolling out to users; for the installation, it is worth checking the Windows Update section of the Machine Building.
