- Apple is already preparing for the premiere of iPhone 16
- These will arrive in the traditional time window, i.e. in the fall
- But the next generation will bring much more news
The new, already sixteenth generation of iPhones will arrive in September, and as various leaks indicate, we will not see any major innovations compared to the current models. There will certainly be new elements and improvements, but rather evolutionary rather than something truly groundbreaking. Much more news should arrive with the next generation.
iPhone 17 will bring big changes
Regarding the iPhone 17, which will arrive in 2025, there is already a good collection of speculations circulating on the Internet, suggesting that Apple could really pull it off with this generation. The arrival of a good influx of novelties is expected, which could significantly change iPhones after a long time. And which new elements will be by far the most interesting?
New, slimmer design
There is speculation that an extra-thin model with the nickname Slim could arrive as part of the next generation of iPhones. The question is whether Apple will use such a designation, however, a thin iPhone is said to be indeed planned and could replace the failed Plus design. However, the latest leaks suggest that this thin model could be even higher than the Pro Max version. We’ll see.

A camera with a different layout
In connection with the iPhone 17, there is also talk of a drastic redesign of the camera module, which traditionally has a place in the upper left corner of the back of iPhones. The module should allegedly be moved to the center of the structure, similar to how the Pixels have it, for example Google. It is not yet known whether the arrangement of the lenses as such will change in any way, as well as whether this change will affect all specifications.
Improved displays
In 2025, it is expected that Apple will finally deploy ProMotion technology, i.e. a variable refresh rate in the range of 1 to 120 Hz, even in basic models. But the bigger news should be the use of a new protective layer that will replace the current Ceramic Shield solution. The new cover will reportedly offer improved anti-reflective properties as well as higher scratch resistance.
Better selfie camera and smaller dynamic cutout
The dynamic cutout, or Dynamic Island, is a practical item, but at the same time it is rather unsightly and takes up a lot of space. This should change with the iPhone 17 generation, the dynamic cutout should be significantly reduced and there is also talk of improving the selfie camera. Allegedly, we will see a camera with a resolution of 24 Mpx with a lens that will be composed of six parts.
Significantly higher performance
The iPhone 17 will most likely be powered by the Apple A19 chipset, which will apply to the top models, including the thin variant. This chip will be built on TSMC’s improved 3nm lithography and is expected to have a significant increase in performance combined with better efficiency. In addition, we will also reportedly see an increase in operating memory, up to 12 GB of RAM.
When will the new iPhone 17 arrive?
The premiere of the new iPhone 17 will take place in 2025, probably in the traditional autumn slot (September). We will see if we will see the traditional four in the form of the iPhone 17, 17 Plus, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models, or if the Plus variant will really end and be replaced by a thin design. Or will the thin version be the new top model? We’ll have to wait for that.
