It is also the largest acquisition to date for DSV and the largest sale in the history of German state railways.

It is expected that the transaction will be finalized next year, and until 2027, the provision of the contract on the preservation of contractual social obligations and all workplaces will be valid.

DB Schenker, whose headquarters are in Essen, Germany, according to its own data, has around 72,700 employees in 130 countries and is one of the largest logistics companies in the world. DSV has about 75,000 employees in about 100 countries.

According to DSV data, after the merger, the two companies will together have around 147,000 employees in more than 90 countries around the world and an annual turnover of around 39 billion euros.

The company DB Schenker also operates in the Balkans, and in Serbia it has a center for domestic and international transport and forwarding in Šimanovci. That center, according to data from the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, employs between 50 and 100 people.

DSV stated in a statement that the merger will increase the company’s competitiveness and enable entry into new markets in a very dynamic and highly competitive sector.

The finalization of the takeover requires the green light of the supervisory board of German Railways and the Ministry of Transport, DSV announced.

According to the statement, Germany will thus become a key market for DSV and will retain various central responsibilities, including DB Schenker’s headquarters in Essen.

Several protests by DB Schenker workers, who fear for their jobs, have been held in German cities in recent weeks and months, German media reported earlier. B92
