Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka won the 1st round of singles at the challenger Slovak Open in Bratislava over German Maximilian Marterer 6:4, 6:3. The Croatian Dino Prižmič awaits him in the 2nd round.
Thirty-nine-year-old Wawrinka received a free card from the organizers.
The three-time Grand Slam champion and doubles Olympic champion from Beijing started a competitive match in Bratislava after 20 years.
After the triumph, he found time to sign autographs for fans and ball collectors.
