The Bloco was “quick on the trigger”, but Chega “shot to kill”

BE was accused by other parties of having sought to take political advantage of the death of Odair Moniz at the hands of the police, by assuming that it was police violence with racist motives, without assuming the innocence of the police officers involved. Much more serious were the statements by Pedro Pinto, parliamentary leader of Chega, who argued that “if the police shot to kill, the country would be in better order”, while André Ventura referred to the victim as a “criminal” and defended the decoration for the police officer who shot.
