The boatman who had saved 15 people during the bad weather Daniel in Karditsa died

Kostas Tasiopoulos stated that he experienced 4 similar floods in the area, but the one that hit last September 2023 was by far the worst.

More specifically, he passed away on Saturday (21/9) o Costas Tassiopouloswho during the storm Daniel that hit Metamorfosi Karditsa in September 2023 rescued at least 15 people with his boat, taking them to safer places until the rescuers took action.

“The conditions were tragic. But since I am an old boatman and have taken out four floods in the village, I helped. It was the worse floodhe explained last year.

“I went out and walked around the boat, I heard some people shouting “we are drowning”. One had water up to his jaw and his wife was sitting next to him. I put them in the boat, five people, and I kept getting people out. Another family, I took it out of the tiles. I tore up my hands too, took out four rows of tiles and took them out. Overall I took out 15 people, I took them to the community office because it’s up there, it’s on the second floor,” he stressed.

“They told me to “pay you”. What payment guys, here we are looking to save ourselves, will I get a living wage? They were all elderly and an 18-year-old child. Now we came by helicopter” he added.
