Factories in the South: The boss insults or humiliates almost every other worker

In the factories of large foreign investors in Leskovac and Vlasotinac, 45 percent of the participants in the survey conducted by the Center for Security Research (CIB) experienced insults and humiliation from the boss.

The physical safety of these workers was threatened in 25% of cases because the company did not implement appropriate measures of protection and safety at work, the results of the survey show.

The position, rights, and basic safety of workers in the factories of large foreign investors in Leskovac and Vlasotinac can and must be at a higher level, according to the responses of workers in an online survey conducted by the Leskovac Security Research Center (CIB).

That is why it is not surprising that 65% of respondents are not at all satisfied with their work and that 75% of them believe that they are underpaid for their work.

45% of survey participants experienced insults and humiliation from their boss at work, and 27% did not personally experience insults and humiliation, but were present when it happened to someone else at work – these are some of the results of the research.

Threats of dismissal, violence…

Due to distrust in the competent institutions, 35% of the participants did not report the violence they suffered at work, while 14% of them reported it, but were not satisfied with the outcome.

13% of them did not report violence because they do not know what the reporting procedures are, 10% did not report because they believe that the security threat they experienced at work was not that serious and “not to be reported”, and 8% did not report because they were afraid for your job – data from the Center for Security Research.

They also state that 53% of the participants experienced threats of dismissal at work more than once, as well as that no research participant believes that the work he/she performs has a positive effect on his/her health.

56% of the participants said that the work they do has a negative effect on their health due to the stress they experience, while 22% believe that the work has a negative effect on their health because the work is physically demanding, and 10% believe that the work does not affect their health at all – research shows.

Most of the participants in this research were from Leskovac – 93%, and a smaller number were from Vlasoticin, Leban and Belgrade.
