The British would tighten their relationship with the EU

The job advertisement was published by the Cabinet Office, a ministerial office that supports the work of the government and the prime minister, on Saturday evening.

According to the job description the holder of the position will be Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s chief adviser on relations with the European Union and related topics, vas well as in the implementation of the action program aimed at reforming the relationship between the country and the EU.

The successful applicant will manage a staff of approximately one hundred people and will be present as the Prime Minister’s personal representative at the negotiations that London intends to conduct with the European Union on the establishment of bilateral relations on a new basis.

Great Britain left the European Union in 2020, after the referendum on British EU membership held by the then Conservative Party government in 2016 resulted in a narrow majority of those who voted to leave.

The Labor government that took office after the parliamentary elections in July does not want to return Great Britain to the EU either, but Prime Minister Starmer has repeatedly indicated that it wants to draw it much closer and to put relations with the union on a new basis.
