The BudapestGO application gets a useful function, the misfortune with QR codes is over –

In addition, the Budapest Transport Center is preparing for further developments.

As a further development of the “metro” button, the “get on” button in BudapestGO is expected to be activated during December. When pressed, the figure required for the check will automatically appear, and thus the more than 2.7 million registered users will no longer have to bother with scanning the QR code. , who uses the application during public transport – announced on Facebook Gergely Karácsony, Mayor of Budapest.

Until now, this function could only be used on the subway, but BKK will extend it to surface vehicles in the future. It will be available on day tickets and passes, and it will be possible to call it up from the app and the widget. When taking off, we will have to do nothing but push the “I’m taking off” button, select the flight, and show the moving image that appears to the driver when boarding with the first door, just like in the subway, during check-in.

In parallel, the BKK is gradually phasing out the NFC ticket validation stickers currently found inside and outside the vehicles, and replacing them with versions with a traditional QR code. According to the company’s reasoning, this is necessary because the replacement of NFC stickers entails significant additional costs, while they are also more easily damaged, especially those that are exposed to extreme weather conditions on the exterior of vehicles.

There are also plans to further develop and expand Budapest Pay&GO, which is currently only available on the 100E Airport Express route and the M1 metro. In the summer, the BKK launched a preliminary market consultation for this purpose, in order to examine which recordings can be used to make the digital payment service available in the entire area of Budapest, and how the system could be further developed, through which nearly 1.8 million ticket purchases have been made since its launch – stated in the company’s announcement.
