BYD debuted in Europe two years ago, in the Paris Salon. The first Chinese manufacturer of electric cars returns to the gala show with its entire range and the arrival of the Sealion WORLD 7an SUV destined to make things a little more difficult for the Tesla Model Y.
It is a electric SUV 4.83 m long and with a wheelbase of 2.93 m, which should guarantee excellent habitability. And leave room for a large battery to provide good autonomy.
BYD Sealion 7: 80 kWh battery and 240 kW charging power
The car measures 4.83 meters long by 1.93 meters wide by 1.62 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.93 meters. It is not exactly a compact model, in terms of dimensions it is 6 cm larger than the BYD Seal U and 14 cm smaller than the BYD Tang.
Isn’t the umpteenth large SUV in the range a bit redundant? Maybe not. As you can see in the photos, the car has the silhouette of a coupe SUV, the only one currently offered by BYD.
Apart from the exterior, clearly inspired by the BYD Seal (in fact it is only 1 cm longer than the sedan), the interior is most impressive. This is clearly a high-end model, as demonstrated, for example, by the leather-covered dashboard.
The large rotating screen is taken from other models of the brand, while the semi-bucket style seats complete an interior that aspires to have the same luxury as in a Porsche.
On a mechanical level, the Sealion 7 offers a rear-wheel drive version and an all-wheel drive version, although BYD has not yet revealed the power of these engines in Europe. It does emphasize the acceleration of 0 and 100 km/h of the most powerful all-wheel drive variant, 4.5 secondsand its maximum speed is 215 km/h.
At the battery level, the brand has not yet revealed the specifications of the European version except for its charging power. With 240 kW The BYD Sealion 7 is on par with its most direct rivals.
To give us an idea, in China, the BYD Sealion 7 can equip a 71.81 kWh battery or an 80.64 kWh battery. Taking into account BYD’s commercial policy in Europe, our version of the Sealion 7 will undoubtedly be equipped with the 80 kWh battery.
The BYD Sealion 7 will be on sale in October and the first deliveries will be made from the fourth quarter of 2024. There are still no prices, but it is known that it will be on sale at the end of this month of October and it is expected that the first deliveries to customers will be made before the end the year.
