The car under 25,000 euros from Tesla will no longer reach the market. What Elon Musk has to say

The electric car with a price below 25,000 euros will not materialize. Tesla apparently doesn’t consider it a viable proposition.

Elon Musk has confirmed that a Tesla electric car cheaper than 25,000 euros is not in the company’s plans, reports Carscoops. Thus, those looking for affordable electric mobility will have to turn to other manufacturers.

Musk and Tesla have been flirting with the idea of the $25,000 or around €25,000 electric car since at least 2018. This supposed new Model 2 was supposed to be the smallest electric car in the electric car maker’s lineup, but nothing concrete has been offered to date.

In a recent call with investors, Elon Musk said, “I think I’ve been very clear that the future is autonomous.” He went on to say that “basically, having a regular $25,000 model is pointless. That would be stupid. It would be completely at odds with what we believe.”

Tesla will focus on the development of autonomous driving systems

The logic behind Musk’s statements seems to be, in part, that by making this vehicle like any other that can also be driven by people, it won’t be as good as a dedicated autonomous car.

This also means that such a vehicle won’t hit the market until Tesla unlocks Level 5 autonomous driving, which will make the car able to drive itself without any human intervention. Thus, it will probably be another decade before the company gets around to launching such a car.

And even if Tesla succeeds in perfecting the technology, it will face approvals and regulations that will need to be obtained, as approval for fully autonomous vehicles will not happen anytime soon.
