On November 12 at 17:00 at the Center of Russian Culture (Varshavas St., 14) a presentation of the facsimile historical reference book “Dvinsk Fortress-Warehouse” will take place, according to the self-government portal.
The book of the same name, published almost 100 years ago, in 1915, in the printing house of the city newspaper “Dvinsky Listok” was used as the main material for the publication. The author of the book is the commandant of the Dvina Fortress (from 1906 to 1918) Ivan Lvov.
This time, the book’s material is supplemented by a translation into Latvian and comments by historians – the features of the historical period and the author’s biography were explained by the Doctor of Historical Sciences Henry Soamesto explain military and fortification terms, the recommendations of expert Artem Makhlin were used, and the information contained in the book was translated into Latvian Ineta Janovska.
The book is illustrated with photographs of the Dvina Fortress of the early 20th century from the personal collection of A. Makhlin, and is also supplemented with fragments of a 3D reconstruction of the fortress garden created by Alexander Bogdanov.
