There should be a person on your feet who can tell you exactly how many electric light-duty vans there are in the world. It seems that Europeans can get to know a new one, although it is unlikely that the piece that is the subject of our article will immediately become part of the street scene in every EU member state. The reason for this lies mainly in the unfamiliarity of the brand name, as Skywell could even be the title of the next James Bond film.

However, this is currently a brand name that also wants to kick the ball in the European market with passenger cars. 233, on the other hand, has little to do with cars. It was developed specifically for the goods carrier by Nanjing Golden Dragon, founded in the early 2000s, and thus the owner of the Skywell brand name. The front of the van also has a Skyworth sign on it, just so that those who look at this freighter can’t be sure of what they’re doing.

The van presented at the Paris International Motor Show in October is produced in two versions. There is a short (5490 mm) and long (5990 mm) edition. It can be made in 2200 and 2700 mm height versions. The cargo space of the smallest version is 9.5 cubic meters, and that of the largest is 13. So it is clear that the company aims at the most common size ranges. It will be available in a total weight of not only 3.5, but even 4.25 tons, which means it can compete with models such as the eSprinter or the electric Daily. The version with the highest capacity will be able to transport up to 1,755 kilograms of goods.

The batteries of van 233 are supplied by the also Chinese CATL. The lithium-ion-iron phosphate energy storage units are installed under the floor and future customers can choose between variants with a capacity of 88 kWh or 105 kWh. In other words, the model can travel 250-400 km with one charge. The vehicle is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with 207 horsepower (150 kW), 370 Nm torque.

The Chinese are coming to Europe with a van called Fura 2

The driver’s environment abounds in digital solutions, as there is a 15.6-inch display in the middle of the dashboard, but there is also a wireless phone charger on board. In addition, keyless start and a driver’s seat with six adjustment options await the driver in the new electric van. It is expected to go on sale in the UK in March 2025. The expected price has not yet been announced.
