The Chinese have game-changing electric motors

The idea is not new, but they have (allegedly) perfected it

Chinese manufacturer Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) presents a new in-line electric motor, which can be installed in car wheels.

The main feature of this electric motor is that it can be installed in a car wheel, and manufacturers can completely remove drive shafts and other parts to make the drive train more compact.

The motor reportedly revs up to 30,000 rpm at top speed, which is much higher than the electric motors used in electric vehicles today. Ecoticias reports that the engine is quite small and weighs only 16.8 kg.

One engine can achieve up to 201 hp (350 Nm). Due to the increased efficiency and reduction in the mass of components, the system of these engines can save up to 50 km of energy compared to classic engines, it says. HAK magazine.

GAC is planning mass production of the engine as early as next year. The group also plans to integrate with various electric vehicles present on the market.

The idea of in-wheel motors is not new, but GAC has apparently found a formula that will work.
