– We were swimming, the sun and the heat… there was no indication that chaos would ensue. Suddenly it got dark, and hailstones the size of hazelnuts started pounding intensely for about ten minutes. We barely had time to escape to the house, says Jovan Nikolić from Koštunić.
The severe storm caused great damage to agricultural crops, but also to some local roads.
Due to the slippery road, there was also a traffic accident in the Milanese village of Ugrinovci, when a truck ran off the road.
The city also beat the villages of Pranjani, Kostunici, Brezna and Leušići.
The situation was no better in Lazarevac, where torrents of water were created.
Starting today, a slight drop in temperature is expected, which will be from 30 to 34 degrees Celsius, although in larger cities the nights will still be tropical – with temperatures above 20 degrees.
RHMZ warned that in the coming days in Serbia, showers and thunderstorms are expected locally along with hail, strong or stormy winds, and that emergency warnings will be issued for these locations one to two hours in advance.
Today, the wind will first be weak to moderate from the east, and at the end of the day in Vojvodina, it will turn to the north. The morning temperature is from 18 to 24 degrees, and the highest daily temperature is from 31 to 36 degrees.
The meteo alarm is on
In most of Serbia, an orange weather alert is in effect today due to thunderstorms, in some parts also due to rain, but also high temperatures. A yellow warning is in effect in Bačka, Banat and Srem.
An orange meteo alarm means that the weather is dangerous: Dangerous weather phenomena are forecast, and they are of such intensity that they can cause material damage and be dangerous for people and animals. You should be very careful, aware of the risks and regularly informed about the details of the expected meteorological conditions. Follow the advice given by the competent state services
