The city in Romania that will have a 22.8 kilometer bike path

The project for the construction of a 22.8 km bicycle path, which will connect the municipality of Galaţi with the Garboavele Forest and the Smârdan locality, was approved by the president of the Galaţi County Council, Costel Fotea, who signed the order to start the works.

This is a unique project in the region, aimed at providing an ecological and healthy transport alternative for the inhabitants, reports the Galati County Council.

The route will start from Lake Vânători, will pass through Vânători commune and Pădurea Gârboavele and will include an alternative route through Odaia Manolache – Smârdan – DJ251. The track will be equipped with two-way traffic, bicycle racks, monitoring systems, protective equipment, passages and public lighting, offering safety and comfort to all users.

A “unique in the region” project

The value of the investment amounts to over 24 million lei, the funds coming from European sources.

“It’s a soul project for me, unique in the region, which will offer the people of Galați a healthy and ecological transport alternative, but also a spectacular route for walks in nature”, declared Costel Fotea.
