The Civil Guard is investigating an attack on a shelter for migrant minors in Cala Rajada (Mallorca) that occurred last Wednesday. The Consell de Formentera, which is responsible for managing the facility, has condemned the incident and reported that the minors have already been relocated to safe spaces.
The diary ‘Breaking News‘ said that a group of people, located in a moving car, fired several times at the facade and the windows. According to information provided by the Civil Guard to elDiario.es, the attack was carried out with a pellet gun and there were no injuries. These same sources assure that the investigation teams are now trying to clarify who the perpetrators were and, once identified, they will decide how to proceed.
This episode took place in a juvenile centre run by the Consell de Formentera, even though it is located in Mallorca. It should be noted that the arrival of small boats has been increasing in recent years in the smallest of the Pitiusas, which also has other resources in Eivissa. These centres are run by different foundations with which the institution collaborates.
The president of the Consell de Formentera, Llorenç Córdoba, is confident that those responsible will be found. He explained that the Consell’s technicians and collaborating entities immediately relocated the minors to other places to protect them. “It is our obligation,” he added. In addition, Córdoba thanked the security forces and the Capdepera City Council for the support provided to the island institution.
