The Clara film team returns to Bucharest for the last special screening of the national release caravan on November 20 at the Romanian Peasant Museum Cinema

National Film Release Caravan Clara about the reality of children left behind by their parents working abroad will come to an end Wednesday, November 20from the hour 20:00the Romanian Peasant Museum Cinema from Bucharest. The event will take place in the presence of the director Sabin Dorohoi and the film team. The tickets are already available online.

Clara brings to the fore a sensitive and little-addressed theme in Romanian cinema: the children left at home following economic migration. The film follows the story of Clara, a teacher working in Germany, who returns to her hometown in Romania to search for her missing son. Her return triggers a painful confrontation with her failures as a mother.

Clara is among the few films that talk about the reality of the 5 million Romanians who went to work abroad and the more than 300,000 children left behind in the country.

director Sabin Dorohoi states of the film: “The movie Clara it’s about longing. Longing for family, home, identity. Faced with this longing, we feel lost and fragile, especially when we are far from the country.”

The main roles are played by Olga Török (Clara), Ovidiu Crișan (Nicolae), Luca Puia (Ionuț) and Elina Leitl (Johanna). The actors Mădălina Ghițescu-Petre, Ida Jarcsek-Gaza, David Rott, Dan Mirea, Paula Maria Frunzetti, Ioan Codrea, Camelia Ghinea, Tokai Andrea, Silvia Török, Claudia Ieremia, Ana Maria Cojocaru, also appear in the film, in other roles. The film was shot in the city of Ulm in Germany, in Reșita, Bocșa in Caraș-Severin County and on the banks of the Danube in Dubova and the Danube Boilers in Mehedinți.

“Clara” is based on a short film that was also very popular 10 years ago. It was called “The Danube Road” and entered the race for the Oscar Short List in 2014 by winning the grand prize at the Chicago Film Festival, USA. Scenes from the film were included in the video “Voltaj – De la cauf” and thus became the first and only Romanian film in history whose sequences were projected at the Eurovision music contest Vienna 2015, where it had an audience of over 180 million by people from all over the world, according to Eurovision statistics. It won the image award at Capalbio in Italy, the audience award at Montpelier in France, was nominated at over 20 festivals around the world and was broadcast on 10 televisions in Romania.

The movie was international awardee at renowned festivals such as Cottbus International Film Festivalwhere he won the audience award.
