The American technology corporation Apple has hidden the news show “What Was That?” in the Podcasts application for users in Russia. BBC Russian service, as well as podcasts from Ekho Moskvy radio and The Insider publication. This was reported on Thursday, November 14, by Mediazona. It is unknown when exactly this content was hidden.
Russian users have access only to hidden podcasts that they have listened to and downloaded previously, and new users do not have the opportunity to find them in the search, the publication writes. The last available episode was released on November 8th.
At the same time, other five podcasts of the BBC Russian Service remain available to Russian users, it is reported further. Outside the Russian Federation, all hidden podcasts are also available.
Apple is accused of collaborating with Russian authorities
Apple left the Russian market after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, recently there have been speculations about its possible cooperation with Roskomnadzor. In particular, 25 VPN applications disappeared from the Russian App Store in July, and another 98 in September.
Apple also removed applications from foreign media outlets blocked in Russia. The company has repeatedly complied with the requirements of the Russian authorities in the past.
