The console could be presented by the end of September with a release in March 2025

Seven years after its launch, the Nintendo Switch is ready for a refresh. The new version is well in the works, reports the site Engaged. The Nintendo Switch 2 (its name is not yet known) should be presented by the Japanese giant. If no information has been confirmed by Nintendo, its official presentation could take place by the end of September.

The release date is still shrouded in mystery. But some rumors point to a release in March 2025, while others place it later in the year.

What will it look like?

Developers have reportedly already seen the hardware, and it appears to be a more traditional console, suggesting an 8-inch screen and magnetic Joy-Con controllers. Various sources also claim that the new console will likely be backwards compatible with games from the current Switch, both for digital and physical games.

As for the technical specifications, Engadget writes that this Switch 2 will be more powerful than the current model with, perhaps, an eight-core processor and 8 to 12 GB of RAM. It is also likely that it will support Nvidia’s DLSS technology, allowing a significant improvement in resolution.

A price still high?

As for the rest, there is little concrete information circulating on the price. But analysts are talking about a price of $400, which is much more than the $300 of the original model. With such a price, the Nintendo Switch 2 would be placed on a similar level to the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X.

Finally, a major question for gamers: will there be games at launch? Unfortunately, no specific games have been announced yet. However, it would be possible that titles like Metroid Prime 4 be available at launch. In short, you will have to be patient.
