The contract for these works, which include reconstruction, adaptation and rehabilitation of the old stationwas awarded to the companies M enterijer gradnja, Securiton, EX ING B&P and Geotaur, along with additional subcontractors: Termo&Cold, Pavel ING and Termoinženjering, published on the Public Procurement Portal.

The offer of this consortium was the most economically advantageous at the public tender announced by the History Museum of Serbia in July, and received two applications, Nova ekonomija writes.

It is planned that the works on the adaptation of the station will last 26 months, therefore a little more than two years.

Main railway station building, built back in 1884 according to the conceptual solution of the Viennese architect von Flatich and the project of the Serbian architect Professor Dragutin Milutinović, it represents a cultural asset of exceptional importance for Serbia.

The new economy reminds that the station has not been used since July 1, 2018, when, after more than a century, traffic on it was suspended.

By decision of the Government, the building was entrusted to the Historical Museum of Serbia for permanent use.
