Problems are only due to working conditions
What this drawing means can be understood from itself. This is the Rainforest Alliance – international non-governmental organizations, a brand operating in more than 70 countries. Her name is written around a frog.
An alliance of farmers, forest communities, companies and consumers was founded in 1986 to conserve rainforests. Over time, it expanded and set new goals – to improve the standard of living of farmers and communities located in forests, to fight climate change.
A label with a frog means that the products marked with it are produced by the Rainforest Alliance certified farm-grown products that meet international standards and sustainable production criteria. Her recommends organizations such as the environmental foundation WWF.
By the way, the German newspaper “taz” was there paying attentionthat this sign, although green, has nothing to do with the environment.
The alliance was also embroiled in a scandal over working conditions on certified farms. German organization BUND according toinvestigations in Ecuador and Costa Rica revealed that working conditions on these plantations were catastrophic.
Oxfam has also claimed that it occurs on certified tea plantations many rights violations. But they are related to the working conditions, not the quality of the produce or the ingredients.

Rainforest Alliance, contrary to what is trying to create an impression in the comments, is not owned by billionaire B. Gates.
The organization was founded by an American environmental activist Daniel Katz. Its executive director has been there for more than three years Santiago Gowlandas.
The foundation founded by B. Gates with his now ex-wife Melinda was the only supporter of this alliance. in 2007 Rainforest Alliance from the foundation in November received 5.343 million USD support for the implementation of a five-and-a-half-year agricultural development project in Africa. This amount was relatively small: the total fund at that time distributed more than 2 billion dollar support.
Rainforest Alliance’s funding is diversified. The organization receives thousands of individual donations. Therefore, the billionaire, whose foundation donated a considerable amount a dozen years ago, did not become its owner because of this and does not stand behind all its activities.
