The cost of manufacturing screens for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series is coming down a lot

In the rumors that prevail around Samsung’s new upcoming Galaxy S25 series, we now read that there is an extensive effort by the South Korean manufacturer to save money from the production of screens. In order to save said money, the company will reportedly use organic M13 materials for its displays.

During creation of Pixel 9 Pro and Apple iPhone 16 Pro, already used panels with M14 materials and are also manufactured by Samsung Display. However, Samsung Electronics is reportedly using the older and cheaper option to make some extra cash – rest assured that the savings will have no impact on buyers.

If you are wondering what they bring the M14 materials on the table compared to the M13, it is obviously that offer 20-30% higher efficiency and 10-20% longer life. If we just compare numbers, there also seems to be a slightly higher peak brightness. This rumor started in Korea, but has also been confirmed by Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, a generally reliable source of smartphone supply chain information.
