Government opens debate with appeal to the opposition “not to distort the OE”

The Government appealed to the opposition not to “distort” the State Budget for next year (OE2025) in particular, taking into account that this “improves the lives of the Portuguese”.

“(The OE) improves the lives of the Portuguese, reinforces the functions of the social state and public services and accelerates growth dynamics within a framework of financial and budgetary responsibility”, said the Deputy Secretary of State and Budget, José Brandão Brito, who was responsible for opening the debate on the OE2025 specialty, which begins this Friday.

José Brandão Brito highlighted that this OE focuses on “raising the growth trajectory to levels that allow for quick but sustainable gains in prosperity, reinforcing the categorical imperative of social cohesion”.

In total, the parties presented more than two thousand amendment proposals to OE2025, which will be discussed and voted on, one by one, conclusively.
