The creation of a new government is stuck in France

The summer Olympics, which start this week, have not only stopped the flow of Parisians and foreign tourists in the center of Paris due to security and logistical measures, but also slowed down the process of forming France’s new government. French President Emmanuel Macron, who is given the right by law to name the next prime minister, has just announced that he will not do so until at least mid-August, when the Olympics are over, in order to “not cause chaos”.

And even then, trying to find a candidate who would have the chance to get the widest possible support in the National Assembly, where the mandates obtained in the emergency elections are half equally divided between the leftists, centrists and rightists, making it difficult for any of these political forces to get the necessary majority support.

The left-wing alliance in the National Assembly, which won the most seats in parliament, announced on Tuesday that it had agreed on its candidate for prime minister. However, E. Macron was in no hurry to nominate him for the position, immediately earning criticism from the left. Meanwhile, E. Macron’s parties continue to perform the duties of the prime minister after his resignation Renaissance representative Gabriels Atals.
