Maritime Rescue has rescued a pneumatic boat this Saturday afternoon in waters near Lanzarote on board 50 to 60 people who reported having to throw two bodies overboard during the crossing, and a second person came to help.
The notice was received this morning, reporting that two boats had left the Moroccan town of Tan Tan, and were located some time later by the Sasemar 103 aircraft in different positions, so Salvamento mobilized the Talía sea guard and the Al Nair sea guard to go and look for them.
The first vessel was initially located by the Adnan N vessel, which was diverted by maritime controllers to the position where the inflatable boat was seen and which remained escorting it until the sea guard arrived.
At around 6:00 p.m. (Canary Islands time) the rescue of its occupants was completed: between 50 and 60 people, of whom ten were women and three were minors.
During the rescue, Salvamento has specified, “several people had to be recovered from the water, and in principle all those rescued were in apparent good health,” although they have told the team from the state-owned company that two bodies were thrown into the sea during the trip.
The Talía sea guard itself, after picking up the crew of this boat, has moved towards the second and, according to sources from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium, there were around 60 people on board, without it being specified whether there were any women or minors among them, and all appear to be in good health.
The estimated time of arrival at the port of Arrecife is 22:35 local time for the Talía rescue boat, and approximately 45 minutes later for the Al Nair rescue boat, according to the sources consulted.
