Málaga (Spain) – For the third time in a row, the Czech female tennis players did not advance to the semifinals of the Billie Jean King Cup. Captain Petr Pála’s team did not make it to the quarter-final against Poland on the hard surface in Málaga today and lost 1:2 in the matches. In the decisive doubles match, Kateřina Siniaková and Marie Bouzková lost to Iga Šwiateková and Katarzyna Kawová 2:6, 4:6.
The Czechs, who reached the final tournament thanks to a wild card, were put in the lead by Bouzková when she beat Magdalena Frechová 6:1, 4:6, 6:4 in the opening singles match. But then number one Linda Nosková lost to five-time Grand Slam winner Šwiateková 6:7, 6:4, 5:7. The Polish women then won the doubles in one hour and 13 minutes, the match ended after one hour in the morning.
In Monday’s fight for the final, the Polish women will face the Italian women, who turned the match against Japan around today and also won 2:1.
