The Czech juniors lost to the Swedes 2:4 at the WC, finishing second in the group

Ottawa – Czech hockey players failed for the first time at the Junior World Championship in Ottawa after three wins. In the fight for the first place in the basic group B, they lost to the Swedes 2:4, when they conceded all the goals in the second period. The goals were scored by Petr Sikora and captain Eduard Šalé.

After a goalless opening period, Hermann Träff scored twice. After half of the duel, Sikora was reduced in a power play, but even before the second break, Felix Unger Sörum and 30 seconds later Anton Wahlberg gained ground. Šalé closed the score at the beginning of the third period with a free kick.

The northerners did not lose a single point in the group and will face Latvia in the quarter-finals. Coach Patrik Augusta’s men still have to wait for the opponent, who will be determined by the overseas battle for first place in Group A between the Canadians and the defending champions, the Americans (2:00 CET).
