At the round table on Rust The circumstances that occurred around this filming will be addressed, offering information about the continuation of production after Hutchins’ death. “Maintaining their artistic vision was the great challenge for the entire team and a challenge to maintain their same line,” the press release stated.

The film could have been finished, but at all times it hovered over the real investigation of what happened and the open judicial process, an issue that kept Hollywood in suspense.

Baldwin was rehearsing with an old colt before facing a scene. Supposedly, that revolver had fake bullets and the actor pretended to shoot, pointing towards where the camerawoman and the director were. Real fire came out. An explanation has still not been given as to how real bullets reached that set.

In his defense, Baldwin argued that he did not pull the trigger and that the revolver discharged itself. That theory was dismantled by FBI analysis.

However, and despite the insistence of the Prosecutor’s Office to maintain the accusation of involuntary manslaughter, with a sentence of up to 18 months in prison, the actor was finally exonerated last July when the trial was about to begin.

It was an unexpected twist in a script that had already had several twists throughout the instruction. Judge Mary Marlowe Summer dismissed the case when it was discovered that the prosecutor’s office withheld evidence that could have helped determine how the deadly bullets entered the filming.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the head of the armory of Rust is serving a sentence of a year and a half. Once the ruling on Baldwin was known, she requested a new trial. They have denied it. Gutierrez-Reed was in charge of supervising that the projectiles were used as props.
