“We will use the latest technologies in data processing, Big Data and artificial intelligence, in order to have an exhaustive analysis that will be able to be used at the European and international level. Danubius is the only research infrastructure in the whole of Europe that is run by Romania. Our brilliant colleagues will coordinate the activity of more than 300 Romanian and foreign researchers”, said Bogdan Ivan, Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization.
The Murighiol hub
The project creates jobs in highly specialized fields and has two major components:
1. The scientific hub in Murighiol, with 17 laboratories equipped for advanced research in geosciences and life sciences;
2. The Danube Delta Supersite, which includes 8 strategically located research stations and 16 observation points equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for monitoring aquatic ecosystems.
These infrastructures will be complemented by advanced research laboratories and an integrated technology platform designed to enable the rapid collection and analysis of environmental data through next-generation digital optical sensors.
The consortium also includes, along with the National Institute for Research and Development of Biological Sciences, and the Geo-Ecomar Marine Geology and Geoecology Institute, the Danube Delta Institute, as well as the Geodynamics Institute.
Through infrastructure, technology and collaboration, we are building a model for the protection of natural ecosystems, contributing to Romania’s sustainable economic development and strengthening our role on the international research scene, according to stiripesurse.ro.
