The series “The Day of the Jackal” with Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch recently celebrated its launch – and has been very well received. The second season is now being planned.
After great success across Germany, the thriller series “The Day of the Jackal” on the pay-TV channel Sky has announced a second season. “The series is the most successful international Sky original of all time in Germany and the second most successful series launch ever in 2024,” said a statement in the evening. The first seven episodes of the series are available on Sky streaming service Wow.
The series is an adaptation of Frederick Forsyth’s 1971 novel of the same name, which has already been made into a film twice. The focus of the story is the contract killer with the code name “Jackal”, who at the beginning takes down a German politician in Munich with a shot from several kilometers away.
This attracts the attention of British intelligence. The Jackal is quickly set on another murder – this time of a powerful entrepreneur – and an intricate chase through Europe begins.
Included are internationally known actors such as Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne (“The Discovery of Infinity”), Lashana Lynch (“James Bond 007: No Time to Die”) and Úrsula Corberó (“Money Heist”). International award-winning director Brian Kirk (“Game of Thrones”) is directing.
