Until elections are held in Syria, it may take up to four years, the drafting of the constitution three, the de facto ruler of the country, Ahmad Shara, is convinced. In an interview with Al-Arabiya television, according to Reuters, he also said that Syria is linked by strategic interests with Russia.

Shara, whose Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) rebel group toppled dictator Bashar al-Assad’s regime this month after 24 years, went on to promise Syrians they would see “drastic changes” in about a year. He also noted that the dissolution of HTS will be announced at the national dialogue conference. and Kurdish militias will gradually be incorporated under the Ministry of Defense.
After the fall of Assad, a transitional government led by HTS was established in the country of 23 million people, which, according to statements so far, is supposed to rule until March 1, 2025.
As for the future of the pair of Russian military bases in Syria, Shara said he did not want Russia to leave in a way that was inconsistent with its relationship with the Middle Eastern country.
Referring to the future US President Donald Trump, he expressed the hope that he will cancel the anti-Syrian sanctions.
