New investigations are needed into the incidents reported by the Rossoneri goalkeeper at Bentegodi. Heavy hand on the Salento players after the match against Lazio: huge fine and disqualification for Gilbert.
There was a wait for the sports judge’s decisions regarding the unfortunate episodes reported by Mike Maignan during Verona-Milan. The Rossoneri goalkeeper had reported that he had perceived – once again, unfortunately – racist chants against him from some Scala supporters from the stands of Bentegodi. Choirs and behaviors that will be evaluated in the light of further investigations. At the moment, in fact, as signed by judge Gerardo Mastrandrea, there are no conditions to take adequate and targeted measures.
Racism in Verona-Milan, further investigations necessary
In fact, the judge writes in his latest statement: “Having read the report of the collaborators of the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, he deems it necessary for the same Prosecutor’s Office to acquire a further detailed report regarding the number of fans responsible for the racial discrimination chantsthe state of the procedure for identifying those responsible and the collaboration, in this regard, of the Verona company”. In short, it will be necessary to try to precisely determine the number of “fans” who chanted racist chants against the Rossoneri goalkeeper, to decide on the possible closure of the sector, on possible fines or other measures.
Not just Maignan: the other measures on Verona-Milan
In the same match it was expelled a manager of the Verona club, the deus ex machina of the Hellas transfer market, Sean Sogliano“for having, in the 46th minute of the second half, getting up from the bench, addressed a disrespectful criticism to the match director”. The experienced Verona manager was disqualified for one match. Emerson Royal, however, receives a warning with a warningMilan defender who received a yellow card during the match.
Lecce-Lazio: Gilbert disqualified and huge fine for the Apulians
Other rather hot match, Lecce-Lazio. Match which ended with an expulsion from the ranks of the home team – Gilbert – and with a polemical crowd, complete with uproar when Guendouzi showed the referee a stone who, according to him, would have been thrown towards the pitch from the stands immediately after Marusic’s 1-2 goal. The Lecce defender was stopped for a match for the red card he received, while the Giallorossi club was fined eight thousand euros “to have his supporters, during the match, he threw three firecrackers, seven smoke bombs and two plastic bottles and two plastic bottles onto the pitch”.
Serie A, 17th matchday: the players booked and on a warning
In addition to Emerson Royal, they received their fourth yellow card and entered automatically three other players are on a warning: Ehizibue (Udinese), Pezzella (Empoli) and Zaniolo (Atalanta). Curiosity: two coaches received yellow cards during the match, D’Aversa from Empoli during the match against Atalanta and Fabregas from Como at San Siro against Inter. Finally, no sanctions against Como, Fiorentina, Genoa, Inter, Juve, Lazio, Lecce, Monza, Naples, Rome, Turin, Udinese and Venice, whose fans had introduced firecrackers, smoke bombs and flares into the stadiums: the collaboration was decisive of their respective companies.
