For some, the archaic past, for others, their entire childhood and unforgettable experiences. In any case, the time has come to say goodbye for good to the popular Xbox 360 console, which Microsoft has now officially hammered another nail into the coffin. Today, it happened the official shutdown of the store with Xbox 360 games.
Microsoft announced this event back in August of last year to give users enough time to customize and possibly repurchase games if they wanted to still use the Xbox 360 after the game store was shut down. As such, the console will continue to function, but it will not be possible to purchase new games or any other content directly from the Xbox Store on the console or on the Xbox Marketplace. Online services and multiplayer (if the game still supports it) will remain active.
Along with shutting down the game store, all video content available through Microsoft Movies & TV will also disappear from the Xbox 360. The only option currently available to play games that are not currently in your library is to acquire physical copies. Of course, shutting down the Xbox 360 Store does not affect them in any way.
Over 2000 titles have been released on the Xbox 360 during its lifetime, with Kinect Adventures being one of the most popular! bundled with Kinect sensors with sales of over 24 million. GTA V with more than 22 million copies sold on this platform or the exclusive Halo 3 with more than 14.5 million units sold and hundreds more can be called another highly successful title.
