Environment Department has demolished four illegal brick kilns in Raujan, Chittagong. At the same time, a brick kiln was fined Tk 3 lakh by the Department of Environment.
On Wednesday (November 13) from 11 am to 4 pm, the mobile court of the Department of Environment was conducted in the Melua area adjacent to the rubber garden of Ward No. 9 of the Dabua Union of the upazila. The operation was conducted by the Executive Magistrate Faizunnesha Akhter of the Department of Environment, Dhaka Office.
At this time, four brick kilns named MRC, DNC, KBW and BBC-2 were demolished with the help of army, RAB, fire service and police. The Executive Magistrate imposed a fine of Tk 3 lakh on a brick kiln called JBL.
Ashraf Uddin, Assistant Director of Chittagong District Environment Department, said that four illegal brick kilns were completely demolished due to the fact that the chimney of the brick kiln was 120 feet high, the brick kiln was set up in the vicinity of the rubber garden and there was no clearance from the Environment Department. Mohammad Ibrahim, the owner of a brick kiln named JBL, was fined 3 lakh rupees for cutting hills.
Executive Magistrate Faizunnesha Akhtar of Environment Directorate Dhaka Office said, raids on illegal brick kilns are our regular part. This campaign will continue.
