For a decade, the dress Cristina Pedroche for the Chimes It is one of the best kept secrets of New Year’s Eve. The presenter, who has welcomed 2025 again with Alberto Chicote on Antena 3, works on her look for tonight months in advance and always with the help of the stylist Josie.
This year, the presenter has managed to change location and leave the traditional balcony of Puerta del Sol and has been able to give free rein to her imagination with a suit of large proportions. It is the most voluminous to date and probably one of the ones that will provoke the most reactions in the coming days since Pedroche has used the breast milk that was preserved during breastfeeding of his first daughter, Laia.
The styling consists of three pieces, a corset, a footguard and a cap which has been created by a team from the VIVASCARRION brand using high-end millinery techniques. The jewelry Belén Mozas, creator of the brand Morir de amor, has been in charge of crystallizing the drops of breast milk to decorate the entire look.
After collaborating with UNHCR and Greenpeace in previous years, Pedroche has collaborated for this New Year’s Eve with UNICEF for the protection of children “against any type of violence, abuse and exploitation.”
A design with 8,500 crystals and that weighs 42 kilos
Create the look What Pedroche has worn this New Year’s Eve has been an artisanal process for which more than 2,500 hours of work. First, the structure of the three pieces, corset, infantry guard and cap, was designed and then the VIVASCARRION team had to lattice, sew and shape the pieces in the mold with cotton crochet to place the crystals made with breast milk.
They are in total 8,500 crystals which, explained by the team that has been in charge of the entire process of look“they are a protection symbol“. These drops transformed into crystals dot the entire structure of the suit and the cap to become decorative elements. On the waist they have been mixed with silver leaf to obtain quartz shapes, while for the cap they have been embroidered with paper pens.
The result is an impressive jewel dress, which Josie describes as chandelierwhich weighs 42 kilos and from which “more than 40 nipples emerge, flowing with crystallized breast milk.”
For the stylist, the dress could be defined as “a female deity associated with motherhood, the earth, fertility, agriculture and life; as were Demeter, Isis, Parvati, Lat, Kubaba, Coatlicue, Cybele, Houtu, or Hepat.”
“This dress makes me very happy because, once again, it has allowed me to put the enormous media spotlight created ten years ago on personalities from the Made in Spain how VIVASCARRION, and Morir de Amor. I hope this dress nourishes us with its pious milk and makes us better human beings in this year that we begin by helping to make visible the situation of lack of protection of so many boys and girls,” Josie added.
Styling with a message
Aware of his great platform and that thousands of people will turn on the TV to welcome 2025 with it, Pedroche has opted in recent years to send a message through his outfits with the help of different institutions. In 2022 it allied with UNHCR to make visible the problems faced by refugees in times of war, while a year ago it defended water with Greenpeace.
“This year I am especially excited about the arrival of the new year. It is a privilege for me to be able to broadcast the Chimes for another year. “I feel tremendously proud to join UNICEF Spain, which has been working tirelessly to protect children for 78 years,” Pedroche explained about this collaboration.
