Jim Abrahams, known for several classic comedies, has died at the age of 80.
The death of Jim Abrahams has been confirmed The Hollywood Reporterille son of director-writer Joseph Abrahams. Abrahams, who turned 80 in May, died “naturally”. More specific details have not been disclosed to the public.
The golden age of Jim Abrahams’ career took place in the 1980s and 1990s, when he directed and wrote the classic comedies Hei me lennenta! (Airplane), Top Secret!, Man and the Naked Gun (The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!), Hott Shots! and Hot Shots! Part Two.
The director-writer worked closely with David and Jerry Zucker.
The last director was 1998’s Jane Austen’s Mafia!, but still in 2006 Abrahams participated in the writing of Scary Movie 4, and in the 2000s he occasionally worked as a producer.
