The police were called to Pöytyä Valtatie 9 at seven o’clock on the morning of the new year. Left across the middle of the road, and the car that blocked the road had gathered quite a queue on the highway.
On reaching the place, they found a car locked across the middle of the highway, surrounded by an intoxicated group. There was a cat inside the locked car, which was watching the events from the side window with wide eyes.
Based on the explanations of the people met at the scene, the driver of the car had run into the forest.
This kind of story has been heard countless times when investigating drunk driving cases, but this time the story is suspected to be true.
A police dog was called to the scene.
The driver who jumped into the forest apparently thought it best to return from the forest back to the road, before his encounter with the official dog. He appeared to those arriving from Lepi, with the keys to the car and a half-liter bottle of liquor in his pockets.
Although the driver presented alternative explanations for the events, the breathalyzer showed that intoxication over two per mille was the most likely reason for the forest trip.
Due to the investigation of gross drunk driving and other offenses, the driver in question had to be arrested.
The other people found at the scene and the cat were transported from the snowy and dark road to the warmth of their home.
