The Duster pick-up you didn’t know

If you follow us regularly, you probably already know that we like to take a look at other markets looking for interesting vehicles that can be purchased at an economical price. And if it’s vehicles off-road4×4 or pick-up even more so.

A description that fits perfectly Renault Duster Oroch or, simply, Renault Oroch. If the name means little or nothing to you, don’t worry. As you may have already guessed from the photos, it is the pick-up version of Dacia Duster sold in some American markets, such as Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia.

A pick-up that we would also like

Without a doubt, a practical, capable, economical, attractive and unbeatable off-road Renault model that, for a moment, seems to have been in clear risk of disappearance. A model derived from the Niagara prototype, in fact, expected as Renault’s major investment in the intermediate pick-up segment, was destined to replace the veteran and tenacious Duster Oroch. But it seems that our protagonist still has time on his hands.

In a recent interview, the president of the French brand in Argentina, Pablo Sibillastated that both models will remain in the Renault price list in the Region at the same time

“Both will be able to coexist for a certain period,”

Sibilla declared to the newspaper La Nación, as reported by her colleagues Motor1.com in Brazil. Therefore, it seems that the new Niagara (or as the model derived from the prototype will be called) will be positioned above the Oroch, giving our protagonist an “extra life”.

It must be said that both models will be assembled in different factories: The Oroch will continue to be produced in Brazil, at the São José dos Pinhais plant, while production of the new Niagara will take place in Santa Isabel, Argentina.
