The electric version of the Peugeot 408 will officially debut at the Paris Motor Show

Peugeot is going to present at the Paris Motor Show the electric version of the 408 crossover. What power will it have and how many kilometers will it travel on a single charge?

Peugeot plans to expand its range of electric models, and the next addition to this range of zero-emission cars will be the E-408, reports Engine1. The zero-emissions version of the French crossover will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in October, completing Peugeot’s electric range of 12 models to date.

To ease the transition from conventional to fully electric cars, every zero-emission model in the Peugeot range also offers a hybrid and/or plug-in hybrid version thanks to multi-energy platforms. All Peugeot models are equipped with ChatGPT4 connected services and artificial intelligence, designed to allow better interaction between the user and the vehicle.

What specifications will the new Peugeot E-408 have?

Like models such as the Peugeot 308 and Opel Astra (which in turn have purely electric versions), the new Peugeot E-408 will be built on the EMP2 platform of the Stellantis group. The electric version of the crossover was already announced during the premiere of the new model, which can currently be bought with thermal and hybrid engines.

Given the EMP2 platform on which it is built, the future Peugeot E-408 will use a 156 hp electric motor, which is powered by a 54 kWh battery. In the case of the electric versions of the compact Opel Astra or Peugeot 308, the range is around 400 kilometers. We will most likely see the same value for the new E-408. The battery can be charged with a maximum of 100 kW of direct current (DC) or up to 11 kW of alternating current (AC).

Currently, those who want to purchase a Peugeot 408 have at their disposal a purely thermal engine, 1.2 liters, which develops 130 HP, a mild-hybrid 1.2 liters which produces 136 HP, but also with two plug-in hybrid systems based on the 1.6-liter gasoline engine. They produce 180 or 225 hp, the latter of which is only available on the GT trim.
