Deployment of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is gathering first successes. In initial tests, it was found to support longer battery life; due to this, some Androids may please users by using the charger less often. The elite chipset from the workshop of Qualcomm was introduced this year and is designed for high-end smartphones. It brings significant improvements in performance, energy efficiency, artificial intelligence and graphics capabilities.
Android will have better endurance
The new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is itself a flagship in terms of performance. However, it will also bring another major improvement to users. Androids that get this chipset may have longer battery life. It showed in the initial tests.
Youtuber Dave2D discusses his Snapdragon 8 Elite devices in a new video. Specifically, they are talking about the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro and OnePlus 13 models. Both devices have larger batteries than their predecessors. The ROG Phone 9 Pro has a 5,800 mAh battery and the OnePlus 13 has a 6,000 mAh battery. However, the test shows that the increase in battery life is much higher than the increase in the capacity of the integrated battery suggests.
Snapdragon 8 Elite saves power
Initial tests clearly indicate that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset can save battery power. For example, the battery life of the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro has increased by almost 14.5 hours, which is an increase of about 30%.
The OnePlus 13 also improved, namely by 17.5 hours. The previous generation OnePlus 12 achieved 12.2 hours in the same test, so the increase is not insignificant.
Tests do not reflect reality
It should be added that although the increase in battery life is significant, the tests usually do not reflect reality. Many factors affect the battery. Among other things, how the user uses his mobile phone and how much he puts a strain on it. Still, it looks like the Snapdragon 8 Elite could be a major milestone that will improve the endurance of Android phones.
