Despite a positive start, interest in the Apple Vision Pro quickly waned.
The Apple Vision Pro initially got off to a great start, but enthusiastic reviews and interest from early buyers quickly waned. In April, there were already reports that Apple had drastically reduced its production orders due to weak sales. And now it seems that the production of the device will be completely stopped.
According to a report from The Information, Apple has discontinued production of the Vision Pro headset while a significant amount of inventory has accumulated that remains unsold. The company now aims to sell the remaining devices during 2025.
There have been reports in the past that poor sales figures have prompted Apple to revise its plans for augmented reality. The development of the cheaper version previously planned for 2025 has been cancelled, but a second generation Vision Pro model is still in the plans.
Several factors can be behind the low sales. For those with the significant financial background necessary to purchase the device, the limited content offer did not provide enough appeal. And those developers who hoped for market opportunities from the device met with few customers. Apple, if it wants to reach a wider audience, will be forced to make concessions in terms of both specifications and price.
