Several fundraising events aimed at raising funds for the campaign of US President Joe Biden have been cancelled. This happened despite Biden’s intention to continue the campaign. Sources from the Democratic Party told Reuters, from which TASR took the information, on Friday.

Biden planned to hold campaign fundraisers in the states of Texas, Colorado and California next week. The president tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, but said on Friday that he would be back on the campaign trail next week.
At the same time, several large donors limited the flow of funds to the presidential campaign. Reuters points out that sponsors can use their financial influence in this way to signal to Biden that he should withdraw from the election.
“There are many donors who have said that they will no longer give a cent to the campaign. The question is whether they will return if Biden decides to continue the campaign,” said one of the prominent sponsors of the campaign.
The Vice President of the USA Kamala Harris is to have a phone call with the main sponsors of the Democratic Party in the next few hours. The phone call will take place at the direct request of the president’s high-ranking advisers,” said a Reuters source.
The pressure for Biden to withdraw from the campaign has been increasing in recent days. More than 30 Democratic congressmen have already called on the president to withdraw from the campaign after his poor performance in a primary debate with Republican candidate Donald Trump. Several Democratic Party officials have said that Biden’s departure is only a matter of time.
