Both mainland Estonia and the islands received a first-level wind warning from the Environmental Agency by Saturday.
By Saturday, the low pressure became very active in the Norwegian Sea and a part of it reached over northern Scandinavia. The vortex also expanded strongly over the Baltic Sea countries and its pressure is increasing.
The wind is very strong and rain is expected. Against the background of these meteorological developments, the southwest wind on the western islands will increase from 16 to 21 on Saturday, up to 25 meters per second on the coast.
In the coastal areas of Pärnu, Lääne, Harju and Ida and Lääne-Viru, the wind speed also reaches up to 25 meters per second in the afternoon, while away from the coast it reaches 16-21 meters per second.
